Flop I just figured he had a pair and I would peel and see how he played the turn. Turn I realized he didn't have a big pair so I tried to take it away repping a slowplayed AA/KK. he was 53/15/4

The thing about this brett, is that by betting that small on the turn after betting that amount on the flop is that he knows EXACTLY where he stands and he nkows EXACTLY what you have. you played right into his hands...you weren't gonna move him off anything you got outplayed here

This guy was not that smart. He had a mediocre hand that he was scared to get too much money in with so he bet small, thought about it for a long time after being raised but decided he wasn't willing to fold even though he was scared. The "oh shit I'm probably beat but I'll call anyway" reaction which is why you don't bluff bad players.
