Well the turn check is strange as hell and I don't know him, but folding AK here feels dirty.
I doubt he thinks you are ever folding an ace. Could he ever do this with AJ/AT (because if I had those hands I'd definitely think I had the best hand when turn goes check/check)?

I realize that people are less likely to get that fancy with a TP type hand, however

I think its pretty close actually, just cuz hes bad and spewy doesnt mean he overbets dry boards with air as often as he does for value because he missed value on the turn.
