ouch, unlucky anon.

On a side note however raising to 4xbb in a 3 way limped pot with JJ is a bit too little you need to be raising a bit more here - jacks don't fare well in 3-4 handed pots, you're looking for hu or like 6 handed. But yea theres no getting away from this one, and raise size simply didn't matter.

Raising more because he has jacks is terrible advice

When it gets to you, look at your hole cards to decide whether or not you're going to play the hand. Then raise an amount based on every factor OTHER THAN your hole cards

But yeah I agree that $3 was too little.

I'm not averse to raising more in this situation, but I strongly believe that bet/raise amounts themselves should be 100% blind to your hole cards.

For example if you're in this situation you'd play JJ, AKs, QQ, AQs, etc., and you'd probably want to raise with all of those. But the amount that you raise should be based on position, stack sizes, limpers, etc. You shouldn't look to your hole cards when deciding how much to raise preflop, you should only look to them when you decide whether to check/call/raise or fold. Once you've made that decision, then you go back to the situation to decide how much.

In other words

The reason you raise is you have jacks; the reason you raise MORE is there are three limpers ahead of you.

You can't get to this situation and raise to $6 with Jacks but only raise to $4 with AQs, it's way too revealing and people will mark you on stuff like that.

Hi anon. I'd personally raise here in position to 6.50, especially since there are 3 limpers (of course this specific raise isn't specific to just JJ). Obviously the end result of going broke will probably be the same in this case, but you'd have to imagine that such a small raise with a marginal multi-way-pot hand like JJ is still going to invite all those limpers along. Abuse your position.
