prolly fold
I'd prolly flat his minraise, spike a king and lose to trip aces though

NeillyJQ   United States. Oct 17 2008 20:54. Posts 8947

he limped in 2nd, AK / AQ out of his range, slight chance of A7, big chance of a FD or a queen, remember this is NL5.

I will usually ship shove this and he folds most aces (except A7 and im 100% sure he doesn't have AQ/QQ/AA) and he can stack off on FD in which you hold the Kh to take away from his chance of hitting.

are you honestly advocating bluffing against an ace in nl 5 isnt our goal normally to stack off with our good aces against unfoldable worse aces?

i *just* (horribly misplayed, of course) played a pot with a similar big fish in nl50 who played the exact same, minraise on an ace high flop against my cbet and he ended up having ace rag 1 pair

I think shoving here is a big leak, he's very likely to have a random ace/77 and at NL5 these people aren't folding it.

So, to summarize it:

- QQ+ AQ+ is out of his range, limp calling pre then minraising on flop ,
- we expect him to fold Ax (like AJ AT) after he minraises it if we shove,
- still he can do this with a Q and calls our shove with a flush draw.

Right.

So do we valueshove, semi bluff or what exactly are we trying to accomplish here?

NeillyJQ   United States. Oct 17 2008 21:06. Posts 8947

hmm...i tend to play differently than most

i look at the board an appropriate ranges and see the only hand that will call my 4bets to be A7 / 77 / hopefully fd, we are both 100bb deep and have alot of fe

i think he has fd way more often than 77 here, a7 sometimes

my assumption is FD 45% / Arag 35% / A7 10% / 77 10%

i assume anyone that is fairly decent (not great but knows the game) will fold ace rag, call with fd 50% of the time and stack off vs A7 / 77 (if he does have A7 or 77 we have Kh for backdoor flush and K so we are approx 11% if called by one of these hands)

our fe is good, the pot is 56bb if my math is correct, but then again i play power poker, unlike most who play value poker

history w/ villian makes this easier obviously

ok baal, you act as if our KK is face up.

for all he knows we have AQ? AA? QQ? AK? AJ? 77?

u are only looking at one end of the picture here.

i realize my suggestion is NOT to be used in all scenarios, but its an alternative way to play the scenario that will win much more often than you guys are giving it credit for.

stop trying to be a hero at NL5.

play all your hands face up and you will win lots of money.

the end.

neilly dude my only problem is you assign this guy a brain in most of your arguments which quite frankly is not a reasonable assumption

like i know you're a 1000 nl baller or whatever and you'll always be better than me and thats cool, but yeah. applying complex strategies to micro micro stakes = lose.

after conversation with a few individuals its quite obvious not to make this play until your playing w/ intelligent players who can make intelligent folds, disregard my comments, play more straightforward at nl5 and just muck if u wish, although i may play this differently, i do not advocate the same to everyone

idk im stubborn today, its a very straighforward fold for most players but the more i looked into it, the more i thought of what hands would actually play like this and overthought the situation.

in the heat of the moment i would actually play this the way i advocated about 5-10% of the time, at higher stakes roughly 15-25% of the time

and no rock, im not a nl1k balla or anything, although i wish i was, if i were to classify my skill level its between nl100-nl400, but obviously i have some issues to work out until i reach this destination

metagame has no place in a nl5 game, not even in a nl50 game, so like i said , disregard my comments as if they weren't there.
