Why are you turning your hand into a bluff?

I have some history with this guy; he's very weak tight, but his turn bet doesn't necessarily mean he has a weak holding. When he called my turn raise I'm pretty sure his turn calling was mostly overpair, and I didn't think my 88 was good.
I guess he could've had a flush draw as well (AKs or something), which of course I could fold out.
I personally thought the river was the best bluff card for me, since I think he's capable of folding overpairs.
