No idea what I should have done in this hand. Villain was 95/17 calling with anything obviously. I should have at least called the river to see what he had, despite having the absolute worst showdown hand possible (is there a word for that?). Maybe he was on a flush draw and would have folded to a substantial bet, but I think he would have shoved on me instead.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but fold preflop.

Haha, well my shorthanded play could certainly use some work, that's for sure. I've just been playing FR and usually leave when the table empties out, but both these guys played any two cards (and usually gave them up on the flop to any bet) and I thought I could win some money off them.

The thing is, while it's fine (and eventually, necessary) to play quite a few more hands playing SH as opposed to FR, it's important to remember that the type of hands that go up in value are "top pair" type hands (KT, QJ, QT, etc), not mid-low suited connectors which lose value. ie. in this hand I'd prefer to have like Q9o over 43s.

That makes sense. Thanks for the advice.

if villain is playing a 95/15

you do NOT try to bluff him preflop.

instead you raise up hands that will own random range Q7+ 22+ Ax+ T9+

basically any hand with value town value. or something along this line.

eZ Life.
