That gives villian a free shot at flush draw and if you are behind its the more expensive option. Betting the flop here extracts more money from inferior hands with less risk.

This is an excellent fold...you show a great deal of aggression and yet he pushed back with all his chips. He must put you on AK in which case the best case scenario is a tie.
