should i be betting more than half the pot on flop and turn? i was thinking 2 overs. Also, typically a good place to bet the river? I know it wouldn't have worked out here because he had the Q, but another time I should probably think the Q would scare him, not help him? Probably bet about half the pot? I think he would fold 1 out of 3, which would swing pot odds in my favor.

I'd bet about .50 on the flop (good rule of thumb is 2/3 pot as minimum, you may have gotten a fold betting .50 on the flop and 1.25 on the turn). I don't like betting this turn since it basically improves most hands that may have connected on the flop. It also gives Ax a gutshot and even a hand like 77 a draw as well. You also can't really represent hitting this board well since you were the raiser preflop and most people raise higher cards.
Cards that you would want to double barrel on a board like this are generally all face cards. You'd also be betting if you connected with your hand. If you do double barrel and get a call, you are usually just done with the hand. Most players who call two bets at this limit are unlikely to fold the river. Like i said you want to be betting your good hands thin and not looking to bluff much if ever.
As played, I wouldn't get in the habit of betting this river when checking the turn. You'll probably still get called by most pairs. The Q isn't really a scare card either when there is a 4 card straight on the board.
