WHY do you bet with hands that have showdown value, ur play is terrible

I bet cause i think he will bluff me off some time when i check ....
And i dont think i would call if he bluffs big like 30$+ which will happen some time

I simply think if he bets big i am unfortunately beaten more often that i assume i am before river.
When it goes to the river i think i am good a fair amount

its basically a block bet here since i think my hand is good enough .. but i am not happy if he bluffs big
however i dont think he is teh kind of player who would ever bluff over my blocking bet on that river where all draws hit + my line

Vs a player who almost never bluffs river with worse i check here for showdown value.

But he is very likley to bluff here when i check since all draws hit
he wont bluff over my blockbet though if he doesnt have it .. since i could have check/call bet out with hit draw a good amount

so my plan is to bet/fold

he will call with an 8 also some time my blockbet

so i felt it just makes my descision alot easier than if i checked
