I agree that the river is terrible. I was frustrated so I turned my hand into a bluff hoping to fold K10's I was splitting with.

Given the way Morgoth was playing up to this point on like 5-6 different showdowns it wasn't as bad a play as it might look. He'd been shoving/gambling with a lot of trash/luckbox type spots.

Edit: Also Morgoth was betting almost every flop he was seeing so my flop check is also not as terrible as you think. Especially first to act with 4 players crossing my fingers that someone would make a bluff-stab it rather than me betting 1k+ and having everyone just insta-fold.

That doesn't mean he's not just playing for fun in the PLO215 or that he wasn't gambling during this tournament . He raised something like 6-8 times in the 30 hands I was on the table with him and was super-aggro on basically every flop. Given the groove he was playing in I was hopeful that he would throw a bet or that one of the other two players behind would so I could ship it in. If not I'm betting reasonably big on the turn and potting it if the FD comes out. Given the dynamic of the table and how aggressive Morgoth was playing I didn't feel like it was a bad line to take.

The river is a bad break more than anything so in frustration I shoved hoping to split or bluff out a K10xx. The way these tournaments play-out I'd be willing to bet that its around 50/50 whether someone has a house there or not. So it's either check and potentially get bluffed out myself or ship it in hoping to pull the reverse. When I get called I'm either splitting or losing and winding up with 4k or broke, when they fold I get to 6k. I'd rather have a 50/50 shot at ending up with 6k/4k chips than be stuck with 2k with sizable blinds putting me straight into gambol mode.

It doesn't mean the river shove is good, its the worst possible position I can end up in, but the alternative option isn't all that much better if it's better at all.
