should have checked turn 100% there. I'm not necessarily saying check/fold, but obviously taht was the worst card for you (Well gave u SF draw! but he had ur 9d boo), so check/calling him down, especially as he has to have at least a semi-decent hand to call ur flop raise. check./calling obviously helps control the pot size, and you don;t really want to be playing for stacks here after that turn unless you have a solid read.

flush draw doesn't change shit, and you can't honestly call a turn bet for your 2 straight flush outs. it's either he has a boat or he has trips, so you bet and if he pushes you decide whether he has a boat or trips, and whether he pushes or not when he has only trips.

Why would you never check this turn?

one thing is for sure, if he had KQ, QJ, QT, he would not instapush. based on how fast he pushed you can get a read on whether or not you're drawing dead.

becuase if you check this turn, you have no idea where you are at in this hand. if you check the turn and call a half pot bet, you are probably going to check the river too (assume it's a black 2), and he is going to get you all in and you won't really be able to fold given how you played it, and you'll get stacked off not ever having had a chance to figure out where you were at.

it's 150bb, you MUST bet the turn for information. you cannot get get stacked for 150bb with a straight on a paired board that easily.

Obviously SF draw doesnt change shit (and he had 1 out, infact 0 after seeing opps hand, not 2) i was jokingly saying that. I understand that if you bet you find out more info sure, but at the same time here I don;t see the problem with controlling the potsize. You're not going to be forced into folding the best hand that way, if he does just have trips, and won;t necessarily lose alot if he has a boat, depending on his bets.

you're absolutely wrong. this is not where we want to control pot size. this is where we want to find out on the TURN whether or not our hand is the best. you control pot size when your opponent has a wide range and you want to minimize the pot against the hands that beat you. that is not the case here. the opponent's range is VERY small. it's either he has trips or he has a boat.

if he has a boat, we want to be able to get away from the hand on the turn and lose the minimum possible, not play to the river "trying to showdown cheaply."

and if he has trips, we want to be able to value bet him on the turn and on the river, if he flatcalls the turn and doesn't push the river.

check/calling is just stupid, you get no information and end up paying off the boat and letting trips control the pot size.

I dont think i should be checking the turn and thi sguy is a big fish he has raised like 10 out of last 20 hands and I just dont think I should be laying this down in this spot based on him flat calling my check raise, how can i put him on top two here

god damn Rabinowitz luck...

Nuros   United Kingdom. Aug 19 2006 17:31. Posts 860

All this depends on the palyer though. Now we've got this information from tripsearching, that the guy's an aggressive fish, i'd be betting the turn and calling his push, perhaps check-calling to induce him to be more aggressive.

To be honset after reading what you've typed and going over the hand again I agree in msot cases with your line. Just all depends on if you can give the player credit enough to fold to his turn push. if not then I think check-calling is often the best play.

I think you played this fine based on the players at 100nl at full tilt.
