is it better to just call the raise on the flop and hope that no spade comes

i thought that Axs was a really good possibility here, although there are many other hands that could be beating me then

no, calling the flop would be giving him free card
and you couldnt put him on a flush draw, he could easily have had a lower ace, set, 2pair, or AK

What made you think you were ahead when he reraised on the flop?

I'd usually lay down there..
