Didn't ask the question to say it was bad, because it isn't always. Standard here is to simply check/fold, and when you deviate from standard play, you need good reasoning behind it.
Vs a robotic nit, this line isn't very bad because he's likely to fold ANYTHING that isn't Ax, but we're up against a half stack player who's probably bad. He's not very likely to fold vs our raise period and then we're stuck out of position with a weak hand. This is a case where we're leveling ourselves because our opponent is bad.
Now assume the opponent is GOOD (which you will not find at these stakes, but just so you can have a proper mindset), we have to represent a hand when we raise. There is VERY little we can represent here aside from 4x and maybe AQ. If I had TT here, I wouldn't fold to your flop raise unless you followed it up with a big bet on the turn (suicidal).
One more thing, in a 6max NL10 game, we will get more money by raising pre with any pp and cbetting the flop than limp calling. |
