Neat:
Though I'm not sure the reasoning behind it, and would appreciate an explaination. Here is what I think was going through your mind:
He called your raise from late position, so most likely he's holding a couple of high cards like K-J or A-T. He could also be holding a small pair.
Flop: He makes a scared bet, about 1/4 the pot, so you figure that you are ahead, and can get him to lay down his hand. (If he had a medium pair that didn't hit, say 99 or 66 he would have bet a lot more). If he had trips, he probably would have bet an amount that would deny the clubs draw?
He calls your pot sizer.
Turn: He leads out with ANOTHER scared bet making it unlikely that he's got anything (unless he was sure you'd reraise and had a monster). So you reraise, and if he reraises you, you are done with the hand, but you are pretty sure that he's still just got his two overcards so you again reraise him.
He folds.
Am I on the right track here? |

small pair, not 2 overcards
at best top pair, at worst bottom pair |

I put him on a top pair or middle pair, 99-JJ.
My read on him was that he was a weak-tight player that I could push around, the way I play this hand is typical to the way I play AA, KK, QQ.
I think I made him fold either 10 10 or jacks. To lead out on the turn AGAIN meant he was trying to protect a strongish hand.
At the moment thats what I was thinking.
He later calls nearly every single one of my raises, each time I held AA, KK, or QQ and bet hard the same way making him fold each time by the turn or river.
So thinking back I think he had A8 for top pair since he has a pretty loose calling of raises standard. |
