yes checking is terrible, not just cause it wont stop you getting stacked from the few better hands he has but mainly because you'll lose value from hands weaker than yours that would have called a river shove but will now check back because they dont see value in betting, and the fact that there are more hands like this in his river calling range than hands that coolered you
