I'm confused... He called with a worse hand, and inflated the pot, how did it accomplish nothing?

you speak as if you knew his exact hand on the turn... you are being results oriented

your line makes no sense, you check behind on the flop because you have showdown value, if you are raising the turn it should be because you have improved. a gutshot on a double suited board is not really improving.

I wasn't saying I knew his exact hand, but I definitely felt like I was ahead of his range that checks the flop and bets 1/3 of the pot on the turn, and there's 2 flush draws on the board, and he could call with 7x as well, so I was charging the draws.

thats why the line doesn't make sense
you don't charge the draws on the flop
you do charge them on the turn
then when the draw hits you put all your money in

this hand is a mess, thats all

Well I have a straight, and the only draw that hit that beats me other than the backdoor fd is KQ. Shouldn't I be shoving the river for value with the second nuts here, especially when the villain is a fish with like 20 BB?

not arguing against it
your line is just hugely inconsistent
that isn't a good thing

Well, it's not like this villain is going to be exploiting the fact that my hand is really weak on the turn. If he shoved over my small raise, I'd probably just call it anyway since he's so short/doesn't really have a clue what he's doing.
