that makes the 3bettors range tighter so that's an argument against 4betting.. |

so if you have AQ in utg+1's spot and a fish with less than 50bbs who opens 30%+ from utg do you flat preflop?
I find that weird tbh |

I dont get your post at all, you think he's 3betting hands for value against this player that he would flat against a 100bb stack and that means he'll somehow stack off light enough when you cold 4bet for this to be the best play?
if he's noticing that it's a 50bb fish opening he likely has a pure value range which is obviously worse for you than if utg was a fullstack and he had a bluff 3betting range. I just dont see how putting like 99-JJ/AJ-AQ in his 3betting range should widen your 4bet range.
just so there's no missunderstanding, im not arguing wetter 4betting/coldcalling/folding is best, im just saying that the utg open being a fish makes 4betting relatively worse than if he was a regular. |

I obviously don't think he's bluffing in this spot oskar
I don't see how cold 4betting is better when someone is more polarized.
If he has air,he'll fold,if he has perceived nuts he'll push...I was pointing out that the fact that he 3bet the utg raiser doesn't make his range that polarized because utg is a halfstack fish.
If I had cold 4bet from the bb and villain was on the sb and the fish on the button I doubt there would be any difference, that's what I'm saying.

I guess in general 4betting doesnt become a better play versus a polarized range but I think we'll be making a lot fewer postflop misstakes if we coldcall here where the 3bettors range is very well defined. also we're keeping the fish in the pot.
I guess my first post was kinda bad, Im just thinking that since you cant really be 4bet bluffing he should never get it in light while if the original raiser was a regular the 3bettor could potentially be light which means you could potentially be 4bet bluffing making 4betting for value better.
edit: also maybe I worded it kindof strangely in the 2nd post when I wrote "makes 4betting relatively worse than if he was a regular" I meant relatively to your other options, obviously your ev with either option is going to be higher with a fish in the hand. |
