well i see it this way:
he's gonna need a strong hand there to raise, since there's been limpers behind him and he raised 5x bb, more than the usual.
so i put him on the following hands: AK, TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA
if i raise here, AK, TT, JJ will probably all fold, or call and fold flop if all blanks, where KK and AA will push, and i bust.
plus, the caller in front of his delivers more complexity, since if i cold call preflop and the flop comes something like 976, i have NO IDEA where i'm at, and the pot so so huge that i have to at least bet it. AA and KK will push here probably, as will a set.
what i mean is, if i have him beat, i will most likely recieve less value than if he has me beat, in which i will probably go bust. |

yeah
but also it's just 200 more to call and you have a pretty good stack, calling for set value wouldn't be a bad move. |

Strange fold imo
I dont think its good.. but it did turn out to be very good :O |
stupid fish shut up with your results-oriented analysis
you should always play this hand even if you read him as AA/KK for the huge set value u get with a raiser and 2 probable callers. just cuz u didn't win the hand and would have lost 200 chips doesn't make it the correct play. |

hm i agree, but what would i do when the flop comes all blanks? or a K/A? i don't have preflop aggression to cover for me |

I agree with you that its stupid to say that its a good fold because it was in that specific situation, but I also said it was a bad fold so wtf do you get upset about. No need to be a rude fucking prick. |

Its a good fold. Its not worth that much to chance getting a set regardless of what you have. They guy in early position raised huge the guy after him called and you still have players behind. Unless you havent pocket paired a set in like a week and you're feeling lucky fold it. I've seen my friend do the same exact thing at the casino multiple times.
Bad beat is Aces full of Tens?
CardPlayer magazine has these type of scenerios all the time. |

Wtf is wrong with u guys
Thats a horrible fold.
First of all the guy was on the button, and theres been no raises to him. People can raise here with A10!!
Second of all, that raise size is standard considering 2 limpers before him. It doesnt indicate strength, but it does indicate he knows how to adjust his raise sizes according to limpers.
Thirdly, if you raise and everyone folds that is in no way a bad thing! u just took down a pot without seeing the flop and took his 250, and 250 from the sb, +$1 from limpers.
If he calls ur raise or reraises, thats when u have to be cautious. You cant in any way justify laying down the third best hand in holdem PREFLOP just cause someone made a standard raise, FROM THE BUTTON.
Some might call preflop here, but with the amount of people in I probably reraise, depending on my reads on bigdaddy and jayphish. |
