in villain's shoes do you value bet a pair of 88's here to get value from a pair of 55's?

he also has utg range so kinda lost :/

A description of villian would be helpful, even basic stuff like is he a reg or a fish?

i doubt he has 8's here ever. he potcontrols the flop so i assume he has a pair which isn't a king. In your shoes I would probably check the turn again instead of betting. And when i'm checking the turn again i'm probably check/calling turn and river depending on his betsizing and player tendencies.

If he's a nit/tight or loose will help a lot, since it's UTG, so most people's range are + / - 14%
But he doesn't have a king, would bet flop because of the flush draw, I'd defintly call the bet because you have to. You showed weakness in 2 spots, so your hand might be good. But you might lose to TT,JJ But can beat AQ, AJ, he might also have 77,99
Also a King would re raise when you bet on the turn.
