if he's a nit should you be betting the river? will he call with worse than 87?

I think he might call with smooth 9 low but no worse than that. I'm putting 60 in to win a pot of 240, really good odds to bluff against a nit like that.

If you're going to turn your hand into a bluff, then you should be standing pat with the king. If by discarding the king you're drawing to an 876, which you are going to bluff whether or not you hit, then the king doesn't matter and you should make your line more scary. The other way to go would be to discard the king, and when you hit like this you can c/c to bluff catch if he won't call a bet with much worse than 87. That obviously only works if you think he's capable of bluffing when you check to him.

I didn't want to turn my hand into a bluff, I wanted to make a hand that could win with no matter what. When I hit the straight, I just had to turn it into a bluff. And no, he does not bluff, I cannot bluff catch. His bluff is to bet after the 3rd draw with a 9 low.
