How can u think opponents call on river is correct play ?
He has the freakin nutz
dont see how he cant jam it in

Which hand might he possibly face that beats him ?
the way it is played it has exactly to be KQc or KJc ?

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)Last edit: 08/12/2010 20:24

not to mention the fact that 87cc isnt even close to being the absolute nuts, it's also far from being the relative nuts as well. what are you trying to town after a river pot bet, a raise to that bet, and then a jam over that?

once night raises river there's no way that jamming can be a good play without some crazy, opponent-situational dynamic. It's possible night shouldn't even be raising river. edit: and by that i mean to say it's pretty thin although it prob still is +EV

Yes, you are good almost always, but it doesnt mean that jamming is EV+. You are not getting called by many hands that you beat. Hence it's more "Am I getting called by worse more than 50 % of the time here If I jam?" - Probably no. And even if it's marginal good, variance will be a bitch.

if I had 87cc there I would consider folding obviously, and if I ever call and see QJo there I'd be like wtf is this reg smoking

bluffing is fine, but here ur hand has a lot of value, why do you turn it into a bluff?

It's not even heads up I don't think you can ever have a dynamic that would make your raise with QJo here good, esp on NL100

I see how it looks pretty strong from me but I am not sure why you are so sure I am overrepping my hand? Can't villain posses a set or KT when he leads river?

It does seem this guy doesn't pay any attention to my image or the fact that I raise a lot of flops now that I see his 87ss (since this would mean he has to think I have a set or AK+ since he thought he had implied odds), but this is hindsight for this particular hand.. I noted it for the future tho

yeah villain can have a set or KT, but how often is he going to pot/fold river with those hands?

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

verse people who have any idea what they are doing id agree. villian called a raise oop on the flop with a gutshot. i think a river raise is probably slightly +ev

though id make it like 100 instead of 125.

came to post but say some people finally gave you good advice. this QJ raise on river is very very thin or a spew. It looks a lot like you hit a backdoor flush so lots of strong kings are going to fold, there are no other lower straights, basically you are either getting called by a calling station or by a slow played set/flush, he has like 9ish combos of flushes, 9 combos of sets. You will get about 6 combos of flushes after you raise flop and sets will slowplay at best 3/5 of time, so 5 combos. So if he isn't a calling station you are bluffing and if he is a herospewtard maybe break even and a complete donk than thin value.

That doesn't take into account of any betting tells (which this scenario probably has one)
