NEVER EVER check this river ;-0
if i was villian i'd be shoving QJ here for value, you are never gonna win any money being this weak tight |

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same | |

How much would you be willing to bet on that river if you were me ?
From my experience, all the overbets mean nuts. It's from pstars.fr where it's even fishier than the ps.com's one. I'm pretty sure they don't know how to valuebet at all.
I've called way too many bet on those river and lose a LOT of money by doing that so i'm more inclined to try to pot control than anything else really
The guy had something like 20/17's stats.
Edit : 28/14 stats with 8.0 on river. Guess i should've called... Meh. It's just too hard to call an overbet with a simple TPTK... >_< |

I think what Tom is saying, by checking in these spots you are putting yourself into these spots. To me taking these lines, feels like you are playing scared money.
I feel a standard value bet would be fine, something around $3.5. Dont be thinking "i guess i should have called this", it should have been, "i should have value betted this on the river" checking is horrible.
However I think the question is why you would ever consider checking this 3bet pot on the flop, when you hit top pair? I am value betting this all day, as villain can easily peel with PPs even c/r as a bluff, and im very happy flatting a c/r from him and feel even better when the turn card pairs. |
