If the table's tight enough I guess... I would have expected a 43bb fish in the BB to be a deterrent but fish can be nits too.

Even against fish, it's not easy to make a hand like 53 profitable. Adding in the possibility of someone else on the table calling you, I'd fold in this situation. The "nitty table" read is only worth so much, especially given the evidence that you got called by T9 here.

I've stopped playing hands like this because I'm pretty sure I was leaking badly.

pre is fine imo depending on your postflop skills and table skills
raising it because a fish is in the BB isnt a good reason

hmm i dislike pre quite alot, even if t9s is the least you're getting called with. save your utg spots for hands like A2s+ imo.

i prefer hands with big card value somewhat vs fish and rather play this hand deceptively vs regs/nits.
fish will never fold and you end up c/f turns rivers a lot
