For me to put him on a higher flush was completely out of the picture, at most I had put him on Aces or Kings. I was certain I had the best hand, because more often than not, it is.

But in retrospect... if it is the best hand, he probably would NOT call my bets on such a scary board even with Aces or Kings, or AK. That overbet was just uncessary on river. But I was betting on the fact that he was the type of player that cannot fold top pair, or two pairs because he was calling my bets all the way to river. And I was making it appear as if I was bluffing my way into making him THINK I have the flush and that I don't have it so he would call my bets. (When in fact I REALLY do have it).

I think that maybe if I had made this play 10 times, 8 times out of 10 I would have a flush, and they would not. And about that overbet on the river there, he would not have called me except if he had a flush, in which case I do not want him to call me so that was a bad play there on the river.

Most of this stuff went through my mind, and most of the time it is profitable. That bet on the river costed me like 10$.

Could easily have saved myself half of what I lost in that pot there.
