This is tough without reads, honestly folding isn't too bad - he's sizing it up to stack you comfortably.
Later with reads it becomes questions of
1. How many 8s can he have here?
- If he doesn't have any it's easier to call down as he reps a lot more air and draws and worse overpairs (that might do this for value)
2. Does he think I can use this bet/call, c/c, c/c line with overpairs? If so, does he think I will ever fold an overpair?
- The usual answer to this would be no, so he'll be less inclined to 3barrel bluff you and only do this with strong hands, mostly because your range when you get to the river is overpairs and slowplayed hands.
