It's accepted wisdom that fish never fold top pair and I am currently losing a ton of money clicking the call button. Just looking for some general advice on when you should decide to call someone down, should you basically always fold top pair top kicker to a river bet like this vs a tight reg?
In the hand above, what if he'd bet close to pot each street? What if I'm in position and he leads into me? I assume I take the exact same line with QJ but fold turn or river? |

If you think he's inclined to be value-betting a worse Jack that is and it's pretty drawy, he could be semi-bluffing with diamonds or SD |

it's definitely not ok, there's nothing for him to do but bet-bet-shove. |

Seriously? I don't think there are many draws in his range and I doubt this fish would float with them. This is only because he has 75BB stack right?
If I barrel the turn I get an easy shove on the river, although he probably folds everything I could beat despite being seriously committed. What if he had 100BB? |

value from worse J's/mid pairs and charge draws, it's just very hard for him to have a hand that beats us. what do you mean when you say he wouldn't float draws? generally when people say floating they refer to calling a cbet with like, KJ on a 24T flop planning to take it away on a later street. but anyway i still don't get the comment, you don't think he's calling with a diamond draw?
with 100bb it's still an easy bet-bet-bet when we get such a good (dry) runout, can't really shove the river in that case because of stacksizes but it's the same idea. |

well , everyone gave the comment bet/bet/bet doesnt mean you have to bet/call on the turn or river
you can still find a fold while villain raise/shove if he was passive and only semibluff flop and value raise turn or river
that means you can save your money if you took bet/bet/bet line and get more value in the long run |

So are you only ever betting the turn with an overpair or better? You need to be a lot more aggressive in your value betting. Making a vbet too thin is a much better mistake than not betting at all. In this case a turn bet is basically your only option. |
