I just started playing, am I just too much of a coward in this situation? Or should I have bet more on the flop to be able to more accurately estimate what kind of hand he´s sitting on? |

I dunno what's ppl opening range from utg on nl5, especially if it's fullring, I guess its still pretty damn strong range. Anyway, take this advice - in situation like EP vs MP if you don't feel like calling 3 streets with your hand when you hit top pair+ just don't flat call with it pre flop. I mean imagine situation that in this hand flop came J37r and vilain made cbet on the flop, on blank turn and made 3rd barrel on blank river - now what? There are no worst hand in his range, maybe 4 combos of QJs but I doubt it. So you called this hand to realise that after 2 streets of calling your hand is not good enough? No, you should have known it pre flop. Same situatoin with K74r flop. So why are you calling his raise pf? Best case scenario he bets flop, checks turn, you bet and take the pot down - but keep in mind that your opponent didnt make any mistake, just folded a worst hand, no money was made.
And this hand showed you excaly what Im trying to say - you are not even sure if you can shove your stack on one of the best flops for your hand
Hope that this will help you get some new point of view, gl crushing micros |

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same | |

Alright thanks for the pointers guys. I always feel so lost on the flop, if I don't hit anything I don't know what to do other than just check/fold if anyone bets. I mean what can you do, you don't have any information on your opponent! And even if I do hit something I can still be rather insecure as you can see^^. Any chance you could direct me to any articles/writeups on, umm, flop "mindsets"? If you can call it that? I've already read the excellent beginner article on flop play.
Blah, now I'm just rambling, in any case, thank you very much for the help! |

train with equilab from ps.com, see how your hand stands against opponent's range on different flops, get some knowledge about which board is good to bluff raise or float to because villain cant hit it too often |
