Doesn't really accomplish anything positive for you.

Either he's going to fold something you have crushed, or he's going to get it in with something flipping or better equity with you. It's not like you're getting him to fold one of his aces here if he's 3betting it pre.

Just call to Keep in his bluffs and encouraging him to barrel you with them.

He's going to make a lot more mistakes here if you call, than if you raise. Thus you get to make more monies from his mistakes.

Raising is definitely +EV, but calling is more +EV.

I know why you raised here, and its because you were afraid if the board rolled off bad and he applied pressure you wouldn't know what to do. That's bad thinking though. Don't sacrifice more +EV lines just to avoid tough spots.

Hey Im slinging mad volume and fat stackin benjies I dont got time for spellin n shit - skinny peteLast edit: 19/01/2012 14:55

If you didn't have the Ac-draw I would like a raise more because you want to fold out hands like KJ/KQ and pairs (maximize FE). Here a huge part of that range you are still crushing (all PP/Kx hands etc.)

in some dynamics raising gets him to stack off with QJ JT QT. but otherwise i dont see it as having much value versus calling where you can be marginal and have floats

Am I the only one to prefer a 4bet pre? As played I'm on the call flop train.

After all is said and done, more is said than done.

this is a spot that is commonly misplayed imo,
you look at your sheer equity and think this is a great spot to get in the hand.
you crush all his draws and are barely behind his made hands.

this does not equal get it in on the flop.

you are never making Ax fold here, secondly and even worse you are potentially folding out flush draws. hands that you can easily snap a 2nd barrel and sometimes when life is good stack the villain when the flush card hits.

villain is 100% shoving any flush draw on the flop. he may also shove QJ QT JT

i still prefer a call though. i think those hands and lots of air will 2 barrel the turn trying to fold out floats/Kx and underpairs. and like you said, when you get it in you are probably about 45% overall vs his range
