guy was 100/14 with huge aggro.

he doesn't seem that out of line in this hand. think we def. can find a fold. it's pretty obvious he got some help from flop. only thing we beat on the river is KQ.

yeah since he had a straight we should have folded, he is only playing a 100 vpip

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

Why do you keep check raising after coming out strong pre flop, or am I missing something?

Mardagg   Germany. Jul 14 2012 08:32. Posts 843

just because i just posted 3 hands, where i did check raise 2 out of 3 times doesnt mean i do it often
In this case i did it because opponent was aggressive but capable of folding to cbet when he misses, thus i was almost 100% that he would bet everytime when checked too.Furthermore flop was somewhat dangerous but knowing i am up vs 100/14 player i cant ever fold so by check raising i try to get as much money in out of position as possible ,i even contemplated of going all in on the flop vs his bet...i am sure he woulda instacalled with his top pair+gut shot btw.
Its just a spot where its all in or fold already on the flop regardless of Turn/river basically vs this type of opponent.

As played i checked the turn to induce some bluff pushes from him which i woulda instacalled.
But he checked the turn and thats exactly why i think i could have at least tanked that river before calling...instead of instacalling (what i did).

well i'm pretty sure people can get out of line 100 % of the time preflop but also not so much postflop. i don't really like making decisions postflop based on preflop stats only. also pretty sure that's not out of line at all. but i suppose you are allowed to be a jackass if you like.

simply put: we have tptk on a very crappy board for us. calling here every time because villain plays every hand PREflop is just retarded.

TT used to be more friendly, sorry for that.

You may have misunderstood my first post though:
He was 100/14 preflop with huge aggro postflop.Just a total maniac.
He had won like the last 6 or so pots on this table, bullying everyone, generally overbetting or shoving turns and rivers when checked to.
Only thing to his credit is that i saw him folding to cbets twice or so before, probably when he completely missed.
His calling range vs my check raise does for sure include most Qx,8x,9x type of hands,we are talking about hands like 82 here,
maybe even lower ppairs,AJ/A10 type of hands, all flush draws. If you lay top pair top kicker here easily on that river board, when "only" some straights and 2 pairs got there, you are doing a mistake for sure. Its a tank call or mabye a tank fold given the read i had with his turn check.

imo if you're playing against a 100/14-style player and you think about folding river because of board texture and just plain feeling, you probably just should fold. since no showdown: could also be he had it all those 6 times.
