i don't even get how his river lead makes any sense let alone the huge raise call. you're not folding splits to his riverbet are you? |

you're calling that betsize w/ Ax yes? if he can't take you off splits what's the value? hero-calling river w/K high or midpairs makes no sense to me from your perspective. doesn't it make more sense for him to check his entire range on river? (unless he thinks you fold too much, call too much, bluff or overbet when checked to too much, or some other imbalanced tendency in this spot in which case he should take whichever exploitative play is appropriate).
i would also think the fact that he's seen you overbet depolarized value ranges at least a couple times just based on the hh's you've posted would make this a good spot to check with his stronger hands as well (even though in this exact spot it seems like you shouldn't overbet worse than like 6x for value i think? and while you "could" check turn w/6x i assume the vast majority of the time you're not. i guess you would also bet Ax most of the time but seems like at least more of a chance for checking that). personally i wouldn't overbet to bluff or take off splits in your spot here when checked to, but if i know someone likes to incorporate overbets in their game i would think this is a spot where they would at least be tempted to do one of those because of how the board is. hope that made sense.
i guess that last part isn't really an argument for not leading with A8, more of a tangential thought about his overall range. |

Mostly i'm 2barreling all my Ax, he is floating a lot and i wanna put the pressure on by 2barreling a lot. but i'll decide to check back some low Ax on the turn sometimes.
Um yeah he's floating a decent amount and it seems easy to get me off worse than Ax here on the river so he should be balancing those floats at least sometimes if he wants to be hard to play against.
i'm never gona bet the river with worse than Ax, so the only thing checking accomplishes is protecting his range. I think he should be leading river sometimes and checking river sometimes. He balances his floats this way, and he can also protect his range when he checks. This means, i can't bluffcatch with 77, and i can't bet the river as a bluff. |
