well why is villain check-calling flop with an overpair when he could be check-raising or cbetting? we are making more money by attacking spots than the times we make money by making our range uncapped here after longple barrels twice, imo. I rather check/call flop with KJ or A/x dd to try and hit overs/backdoor flush and make my range a little more uncapped in those ways than play passively and miss my opportunity to attack him on the flop.
maybe i can be more enlightened here tho. |

comon.. he got longple to put in this much with a gutty. and possibly more when he value cuts himself.. I know ur good enough to think on a deeper level than this.. That said im not saying this is good play, but not terribad like you seem to think it is.
btw didnt mean to be arrogant. I just dont think you or I have enough information to call him an idiot for c/calling with 99 here. Just my 2 cents. |

yeah but when i say some play is outright bad, the spot gets much more attention from players better than me from wanting to correct me when i'm wrong, and i learn quicker
Gona try and spend a lot of time analysing this hh, because it's a spot where a lot of midstakes regs do this, and i think it's almost always the incorrect play. |

ok ok, I got newbie question. On the turn, when he checks, and longple bets. Why isn't this a super awesome place to raise?
Isn't there a million hands here that are drawing?

draws in this hand are a= flushdraws or b= gutshots. assuming he thinks longple is gonna fire a third barrel regardless of whether he hits, I can see just calling down being more profitable, because only the monster draws that are semi-likely to hit will call the turn cr whereas the bad draws that are likely to miss are gonna fire more anyway.

i cant think of any scenario or any opponent i would chk the flop here w/ 99. the better the opponent, the less likely i'd chk.
deep stacks and position ... we will just get owned like every time.
he doesn't raise the turn cuz longple is gonna bluff the river like 80% of the time probably ... raising only isolates his strong hands and pushes out his bluffs, of which there are many. |

like i discussed with naz/smuft in our skype aswell i def think he should check/call turn w 99 and continue rep that overpair or w/e after takeing a ch/call flopline i will just bluff/valuecut myself so much on the river against him. and he will have a very easy ch/call on alot of rivers and ch/jamm some |
