My hope is one day stupid people will feel the same pain when they talk, as the pain the rest of us feel when we hear them. | |

what was the result in that match between dolly's team and andy whatshisname?
i've been finding the $10k buy-in for the wsop ridiculously low and outdated (it used to be a ton of money in 1973 when people signed up for it, and they should have gradually increased the buy-in over time), and it really messes the event up, but $10 million? that's just kinda ridiculous lol
maybe this will wake up the WSOP organisors, it's a bit laughable to call your tournament "the world series of poker" if there is an event out there with a buyin that's one thousand times as high.. how many people do they want to play in the WSOP next year? 10,000? god ;( skill is already meaningless in the wsop anyway so why not |

They played multiple times, the pros won sometimes and andy beal won a couple times. Overall the pros ended up winning but they didnt win a huge amount for the stakes. |

I don't think 10k is "ridiculously low". 10k is still ALOT of money. Most people in the world don't even have an income of 10k a year. There are also very few people that can just throw around that kind of money. 10k is like half a nice car, a whole bargain car, or a downpayment on a cheap house or condo. The reason there are so many players in the WSOP is because a large percentage of them get there through satalites these days.
I dunno, unless you're suggesting it should be like the old days where ~50 people compete for a winner take all prize or something. But I don't think it will ever be like that again simple because of poker's popularity. |

10k is nothing to poker players and professionals (lawyers etc.) You cant really compare it to the wider population, trailer trash spend that money on beer and smokes anyway. Its all relative. |

i'm not saying it "should be" 50 again (although that would be fantastic in my opinion) but 5000 players sign up these days, it just takes all magic out of the event
back in 1997 i think about 300 people signed up and stu ungar managed to win it
I think up to 500 players is a cool numer |
