Out Any card that will improve your holding well enough to make it profitable (at least by your definition) for that given hand. For example, if you are holding 56 on a 3-4-K flop, a 2 or a 7 on the turn or river would make you a straight, and therefore every 2 and 7 still left in the deck are OUTS for you. In this case, you have a total of 8 outs (4 x twos, and 4 x sevens).
