Yea. If you have some kind of solid proof or a few people are can back up your story etc I'd say you should probably do something about it since he might actually hurt people later by being a cheating bastard. He's fucking the rest of the class over so you can't be blamed for fucking him over.

lol wtf, people actually cheat at university level somewhere? That's ridiculous.

Anyway in moral perspective it's completely fine to tell on him. However things are more complicated than that, not knowing everything it's not really possible for us to give you any advice. I'm sure you know better than us.

call him out if he brags about his marks or something, but never tell teacher, that's for fags (unless some exceptions). Everyone cheats unfortunatately, at least here.

Most universities have a very strict honor code. For example, lying, stealing, cheating, are all insta-expulsion. The schools do this to uphold their reputation of being a good university.

I took a class one time at a University overseas, and it's retarded how much cheating goes on there. At my own University, cheating was NOT done. But here at this European University, the professor would leave the class during the exam, and everyone would talk about the answers. One time the fucking Dean walked in, and no one got in trouble. He looked around, threw the exam in the trash, and the next class period we had the retake the exam. WTF?

In USA, cheating is NOT done. I don't know how it's done over seas, but in USA, it's frowned upon at the collegiate level.

Seriously, this guy is a fuck. If you're too afraid to tell the teacher personally, write him a note, or an email from a new email address, telling him you noticed cheating on the previous exam and you wouldn't like to say who but they had the study guide with them during the exam.

You don't have to rat him out, but the professor will be smart enough to keep it quiet to look for the one cheating. Especially for a doctorates... a bachelor is one thing, where half of your credits don't even really correlate with your major (core classes). But for a fucking PhD? This guy is going to be a Doctor, and that requires a ton of respect. I don't want a Doctor, to be a cheater.

Cheating is very standard these days everywhere. Dumber people are evolving to compete with smarter people; and the best adjustment you can make is to out-cheat him since you're smarter than him, or to not associate with him anymore and do your own thing. The only way to rat him out imo would have been to say something WHILE he was doing it ("Hey what do you keep looking at? Is that the study guide??? Hey teacher I think this guy's cheating". And then you still look like a tool and no one will trust you since I'm sure all of your other classmates cheat as well. #UptownProblems

I'm in agreement with Whoosel mostly.

At my Uni well over 50% of the student population cheated. Some of the cheating techniques were so absurdly advanced that if they put the same effort into studying they probably would have ended up with the same grade. It kind of made me sick given how much we paid to go, but I'm fairly certain most professors were even aware how many people cheated and just didn't give a flying fuck. I think the professor mentality was "well they're really only hurting themselves in the long run" or something who knows.

If this was psych 101 i'd be like lol what a fail ball moron. Considering this is grad school, fuck this clown. I'd 100% turn him in. Don't even think twice about it. Anyone disagreeing with that doesn't understand academia.

This is crazy, I've never cheated in my life and I can't believe at a grad school level there is such blatant cheating.

That being said I would confront him and let him know you are aware and do not appreciate it.

if it was most other jobs it would be obvious to ignore it. But considering its a medical position you have to report him.
Otherwise who knows somewhere along the line he might hurt someone and itll be your fault.

Even if you look at it this way, it's get rid of your competition.

The problem is with the system that values exam scores so highly, I mean if his artificially inflated score wouldn't be boning you because of this retarded system it wouldn't even be a question. I understand you feel like a sucker but I don't think telling on him would do well for your own self image and your image among your colleagues.

idk, if this was a competitive field, i'd have him burn and laugh when he flips burgers later.

I dont know, I really don't want someone who cheated their way through school to be helping me through therapy after I break my leg, or something. It shows he's incompetent and doesn't take it seriously enough. Idk, I don't like the idea of cheating.

Because of his cheating, he will get a job where someone who didn't cheat and tried harder won't. Idk, I'd rather have a therapist who actually tried in school than someone who didn't.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS FUCK that guy cheating in a competitive environment, especially when you're learning how to fucking treat injuries and shit that directly effects people

its fucked that anyone voted not to call him out

this shitty nerd goes out and starts treating people's injuries down the road, or tbh he'll end up becoming a chiropractor after no one hires his incompetent ass (but he'll still have a degree), and end up paralyzing someone doing one of his bullshit adjustments etc

Bigbobm   United States. Jan 18 2012 12:56. Posts 5511

i probably wouldnt care up until the point where he started bragging about it being an easy test. once he said that id have no problem calling him out there on the spot. of course its easy you faggot, you cheated.

that said, i know about half a dozen people who are physical therapists as my best friend was in the program. they definitely over prepare you, as most of them dont use 90% of what they actually learned, since they tend to specialize on different body parts. so not memorizing every bone, ligament etc in the body doesnt automatically make you bad

Its time to stop thinking like a bitch and think smart like a poker player - ket

Your decision here is not difficult, but it depends on what you want to accomplish.

But first, the absolute last thing you do is confront the guy. If your first course of action is to confront him, he's just going to deny it and have plenty of time to think up an excuse in the event you turn him in. You don't have any concrete proof, so it's as easy for him as "deny til you die" and never cheat again since now he's aware he's in the crosshairs. If he knows you have this information, who knows, he may even go as far to lie and turn you in for cheating first to ruin your credibility. This is how these type of people think, he won't be remorseful, he will try to save his own ass by any means necessary. If you actually want to get this guy caught/in trouble, blindsiding him would be the best avenue.

Get Guy in Trouble:
Seeing how you do not have solid evidence of his cheating, I would not directly go to the professor. If you do report him directly, you put your neck out there and risk your own reputation in your professor's / peers' eyes. Instead, I'd recommend you send the professor an anonymous email / letter in mailbox detailing what you saw and explain your suspicions. If you're detailed enough, the professor won't doubt the seriousness of the allegation. As you said, he has cheated on exams before and was even retarded enough to ask a girl for an answer during the exam. This guy will no doubt cheat again and if your professor has any spine, he'll be ready next time and take the appropriate action.

Ignore It:
This route is obviously the easiest and requires no effort on your part, you just keep quiet and maybe the guy digs his own grave now or in the future. fwiw, I would not turn him. If you've ever cheated at all while in undergrad / grad, you've committed the same offense, are equally punishable, and would be acting completely hypocritical if you ratted him out.

Instantly call him out on cheating next time he brags about passing/results (which will probably be in a group of people probably classmates). I wouldn't condemn you for ratting the guy out. By letting it go you will not be helping anyone, even the guy who cheats, so i feel some sort of action should be taken.

I'd take this stance if it was a degree for like philosophy or some shit. But this guy will be directly working with people with serious life changing injuries. Do you really want a therapist who didn't try hard enough in school to actually learn the material to help you walk again or be able to hold a glass of water without spilling all over yourself after you just had a close to death experience in a car accident or some shit?

Cheating in this field is absolutely wrong, especially in a competitive market. Going for a doctorates, means you are taking this field extremely serious, and he appears not to really care about how not learning the material will affect his future patients.
