Being in law school I never thought I would casually read again....then I got the new kindle.
Currently reading:
LOTR 1, Band of Brothers, Catch me if you can, and a book on meditation.
Looking for some beginner books on psychology or the economy if anyone has some suggestions.
Fooled by Randomness by Taleb
(psychology + economy)
or Antifragility by Taleb
(psychology + economy)
they are easy reading
Can't right-headedly recommend any other book on economics or social science to anyone until they've read these.. for context..with the exception of:
Thinking Fast & Slow - easy reading essential psychology. basically a well-woven summary of tons of different experiments and the general concepts that have been developed in regards to the data gained via the experiments discussed
It presents a lot of the questions and scenarios of the experiments to the reader as you go through the book. Its very entertaining.
hundreds of historical anecdotes about mass-delusions and such (ie stories about everything from the East Indian Trading Company, to the alchemists of the middle ages. Euro-centric book)
Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds by Mackay
"a book on popular folly" -wiki
Thanks for the recommendations. Are those economy books good for beginners?

Have you read it yourself M. ?
Thinking fast and slow i wouldn't consider easy reading for someone who's native language isn't English. I find myself looking up words pretty often.

I read through derek siver's review of it, not sure if that counts, and I have it on a list of stuff to read xD
Fuck I wanna start reading again so bad, not sure if books suit me though, a lot of them are made of shitty paper and I'm kinda allergic to it, to those who read on ipads/kindles, how good is it and is it basically the same as reading from a book?

I feel more stressed and anxious reading on an ipad, I prefer to read books on the kindle, it's more comfortable than books too I think.
