Is this standard. Should I press it more aggressively or fold at some point? I kinda felt I might be beat here. In the other hand I wasn't sure whether I was missing value against something like AJ. Hmmn.

From which part. I don't think any of those are probable the way it was played.

i have some problems with these situations too and i think ur play was good.
in this particular hand, there is quite a few weaker holdings that may try such a play on NL50 - AJ, AdTd, KK, QQ, even KJ by some players, ...

i myself either play it the same way u did to show it as cheap as possible or sometimes when there is more possible weaker holdings i like to reraise on flop - u would very possibly get the info about his strength here - a min-rereraise is probably monster (or call and reraise on turn again), while bluff would probably fold here. the most probable decent hand like top pair + draw or sthg like that will probably call u and if he just check-calls ur turn bet u are safe and u may decide on the river according to the whole board if u check to showdown or go for more...

ok, these are my thought, dunno whether its better or not.

I didn't include the result because DarkXprT and other pros would say how to play the hand when knowing what opponent hand. I don't want that.

from the weak minbet and minraise on the flop, it seems like hes either semi-bluffing (weakly) with QdKd or AdXd, QKo is likely too, but i dont see him reraising with that hand. It is possible that your opponent is slowplaying JJ or JT, but only possible, again not likely. even more remote is the possibility he has QQ/KK because, if hes a good player, he would have reraise pf. i agree with the check behind on turn because it A) induces a bluff from your opponent on the river if you have the best hand and B) saves you money if he is in fact slowplaying a hand that has you beat and you are WB.

i know nothing of how your opponent plays, but im going to take a guess and say QK, likely QdKd?

i think most of the time i would play it the same way, maybe bet the turn sometimes though too depending on how it feels...on one hand you don't want to give cheap draws, but i don't think you want to be building a huge pot with AA on this board most of the time, esp. if you think your opponent might be decent. i could be wrong tho

I felt he might have something like QJ, maybe even flopped two pair. Or been minraising with a straight draw. I wanted to go for calldown if it wasn't too expensive (and that's what I did).

my guess is he wants to showdown a hand that feels WA/WB as cheaply as possible, thinks he'll get c/r on the turn

bad play with AA here? if so, why?

It's funny how much more indepth the analysis and "guessing" becomes when you don't give out the result of the hand :D
