Gnarly is 100% correct. You may think he's pushing it with some hyperbole but he's not really. I get your special conditions but honestly limits are set the way they are for a reason. In your extreme examples the risk you take is less, obviously, but if you end up losing control of the vehicle you hurt yourself a heck of a lot more. Simple enough.

Its weird how much bad advice is in this thread haha. You should look online and call a local lawyer. Usually you end up paying for the lawyer to get it reduced to expired tabs or some other non-moving violation. They cost the same as the ticket and then you pay a small fine for the ticket but it never goes on your record and doesn't fuck with your insurance. Seeing as you were going more then 15 over this might be difficult but since its your first time if the lawyer has a clue it should be easy. Also since you were going fast it implies you will most likely get one again. You always want to save the option to defer the ticket for when you really get jammed up and can't get the ticket reduced.

In that case, why not make the limit lower to make the road safer? Dock another 5. Repeat argument, repeat docking 5 until you're at 10ish? But still, people can be killed by vehicles moving ten miles an hour, better just get rid of them to make things even safer. This is just so you can realize speed limits aren't made to make others safer because as you relalized "ppl can be killed by vehicles moving ten miles an hours" and ANY speed limit gvmt sets will be fine. Therefore, it's not about safety but it's about what gvmnt DECIDED to be "safe". So OP wasn't driving unsafe. He has just broken the law.

If you have everyone going whatever speed they wanted, you'd have people going very slow, and people going way too fast. That's not a good combo to have. If, however, everyone were going a medium pace, then you're going to have less accidents. This is why it's illegal to go above the speed limit by too much, and illegal to go too slow, which is usually considered an unnecessary road hazard or something.

This doesn't change the fact speed limit is set by gvnmt and can be whatever value they decide it to be. Not sticking to those values is just braking the law/illegal but has very little to do with safety per se as any value they choose would be considered fine by them.
I'm not saying everybody should be going whatever speed they wanted, just pointing out that safe driving has very little to do with speed limits and a lot to do with the IQ of a guy in a car.

Let's say you're in a neighborhood, usually speed limits are 15-30. This is because going those speeds, you're going to be able to notice the kids playing in the street, or a car backing out that didn't see you, or a dog in then middle of the road. On the highway, you don't experience these things. You're trying to get from point A to point B at a high speed, so you get speeds from 55-85. From 35-45 you're usually on a busy road in town, expecting people to pull in places, pull out, or change lanes and whatnot.

Btw, it's more-so the people who set the limits, as they are the ones who bitch when things are too fast or too slow. Happens all the time over here. So, really, it's the people who are deciding what's safe and what's not.

not even 15mph speed limit will help if u spot 10/10 half naked hot chick and stop paying attention to the road. IQ makes you a good driver not going by speed limits.

Ppl bitch all the time, regardless of speed limits but only top few set the rules for majority.
