and you'll notice many more advantages when you play that way in the last stage of the tournament.. for example, peopel might think that you are an insane maniac and they might react to this by not completing their small blind anymore while you are the big blind.. they'll give you a chop if they haven't got a big hand, and htat's really great because winning just the blinds is already fantastic |

I suggest everyone just pick up
Harrington on Hold'em Volume 1 & 2
Discusses online play a lot as well. Extremely well thought out and all based on no-limit hold'em tournament play. |

Didn't read it but you're missing a chapter:
Playing with a large stack. Maybe it's survival if you're just starting out, but incompetent tournament players tend to sacrifice even a big stack by thinking they're Gus Hansen. Let's say you double up early - how should you continue? Should you tighten up? Loosen up? How to push people around? When to push people around? Or do what most weakies do, fold until ITM. xD |

| Let's say you were dealt pocket Queens early on and you, being the awesome player that you are, pick up a great tell on someone who's favourite hand is Ace-King and reraises you. You know beyond any doubt that he has that Ace-King and he puts you all-in with a ridiculously oversized re-raise. Since you're so awesome and your read on him is so great, you can now call knowing that you are a tiny favourite to win the pot and double your chips. After all, how can it be a mistake to make a play that will win you chips on average? This is one of the extreme cases where you wouldn't think twice about mucking those queens. I mean.. you can just throw them away and maybe lose $80 of your $1500 stack and keep playing with a healthy $1420. There's no need to risk going broke on close to an even money shot.. so you'd ditch those queens quickly. |
whoever came up with the idea that someone should fold really small edges in the start of a multi table tournament is a damned liar.
should you fold AK in this spot if you know he's QQ? fuck yes you should (barring a lot of dead money in the pot). should you fold QQ knowing his AK? fuck no you shouldn't. this "coinflip" thing has been perpetuated for far too long and is bullshit. if you can ever talk someone into being allin with AK against your QQ preflop, fucking take it (barring some particularly specific situations in tournaments and sit and gos depending on stack sizes and money surrounding which i wont even go into here but involve the ICM). you're a 56.75% favorite. that's mother f'ing huge. casinos barely ever get to be a 56.75% favorite.
dont fold when you have the edge. however, don't play on when you either have a small edge or are a dog (that's the reason to fold QQ: when you're pu against either AK, AA, or KK, *not* when you're up against for sure AK).
