No, what I'm implying is that not everyone who charges for their knowledge is only doing so because they need the money. Marshall says he's up 300k, I doubt he could ever make that much making videos for RIO, so whats the incentive? A little scratch on the side plus it helps him evolve as a thinker. Your ability to teach speaks volumes of your subject knowledge; If you can't explain something simply, you don't understand it well enough

bye now

seems like jealousy driven post. not uncommon to see in quite a few of your posts in general.

lol ... im up >300k this year but w/e.

hes right for a lot of guys. its not true for everyone. there are plenty of videomakers who are crushing this year (you, leo nordin, oddsen, the MTT guys). but a lot of guys start breaking even and find new ways to make money. i dont think its necessarily an awful thing ethically as many have been big winners for long periods of time and have knowledge to share, but their motivation for coaching is often to replace a lost source of income.

but handbanana, im assuming marshall gets paid 1k-1500 per video. why would he turn down basically ~750/hr to make videos (with preparation, fails, and production) when his game will probably improve from it by watching himself play and talking through his thought processes? esp when his main site is anonymous tables and he doesnt have to worry about people figuring out certain things he does

There were two factors in my motivation to choose to make videos again.

One, it is a huge challenge for me to open up my game and force myself to be able to justify all my decisions at the table without looking like an idiot or a fool. All of my videos will be under major scrutiny from a lot of very good players and this is something that will greatly improve my game. I feel mostly that as the majority of my game is on anon tables and I have been doing so well in them that I haven't felt sufficiently challenged which makes things rather boring for me. I felt this would be a good way to challenge myself.

Second, you guys know I have a huge ego. It's not something I hide. I obviously appreciate the respect I end up receiving from a lot of my peers that making videos for a site as frequented by the best players in the game as RIO should help to bolster that perceived opinion of me which is obviously not +ev in a monetary sense but does satisfy my ego a bit.

The money I make in producing the videos is dwarfed by the money I make playing, so if I was doing it for purely financial gain I think it would be a -ev proposition.

I didnt mean for it to come off as negative towards you. And im far from jealous.. shark/irunlucky/lucas are all b/e in 2013 and that new guy alpha went on a 100k ds and decided to be a coach. It seems like a joke that guys cant win any more then decide to become coaches off of past results. You can have a debate with me about a subject without having to come off as a tool.

Well it seemed to me as if you were implying I was one of these players which is why I responded in the manner I did. Yes I do think most of the other coaches there excepting a few who have had huge success in HS/nosebleed games are a bit behind the curve but I wouldn't consider myself to be one of those guys which is why I took offence to this statement.

Dude obviously i wasnt calling u a b/e player. The ego thing was a bit out of line.. its clearly true but didnt need to be said. Mikey fbooked me about rio. Its terribly -ev for me since im a stars player. As daut said tho its prob not so bad for you since you play bovada. Gl enjoy the monies etc etc.

I highly doubt its that much. I would guess around 500-750 max. I just think its stupid that a professional site would keep around guys WAY behind the curve. It waters down the quality of the product big time. Leggo at least has apoth and zaza. But yea hopefully marshall turns midstakes around a bit. I stopped watching their vids a long time ago.
