no not rly I was doing max weight 3x8 reps. Had solid gains in bicep + chest but being in goals was painful as shit and it defo slowed me down.

I looked at NHL goalkeepers. Ripped but none have big muscles. A lot of em like Rask look super skinny. Upper body at least legs they got to have strong legs but they're hard to see on photos.

I think u should get some general idea about Weight Training

If u can lift a weight 8 times in a row than its definitely not heavy !
And slow repetitive traning with medium weights (which is what u did) will gain u muscles but make u slow .

Heavy weights is what u can lift 1-3 times at max !
Squats,Deadlifts,Powercleans that stuff with heavy weights wont make u slow ! It will make u explosive and fast
Reason it makes u faster is that your body needs to explode to even get 1rep in with heavy weights !

im cutting now tho and the high rep low weight makes me sweat, almost like half cardio
I guess I can start including max weight 1rep stuff at the end of my gym sesh?

No !

Never lift heavy at the end of a session !
Always when u are fresh after a solid warmup.

You dont want to take on heavy stuff when your muscles might be tired allready from lots of reps with smaller weights and therefore have a high injury risk

Timewise heavy weights always before high reps !

Also only do heavy reps on excercises that u feel absolutely safe with.
You need to have perfect knowledge of what u are doing when u lift heavy. Otherwise you will injure yourself
