You know, I remember in a HSP episode (or PAD) Doyle was asked if he played poker every day (Galfond maybe asked him, I am not sure). Doyle answer was that since he started playing poker the only days he skipped or took a break was when he was ill. This really made me think about how strong his inner motivation and dedication to the game was. All these years, poker changed so much, so drastically after the internet boom, and still he hasn't lost that passion.
And that should be a very good lesson for everyone who takes poker seriously - don't look at it like a short term goal set and achieve thing. If you want to play with the best, you should have that inner drive in you always. |

Played 33k hands in the past 4 days, and while I'm in the midst of a huge downswing I'm really happy about my improvements and everything. I wish I could follow more than 4 zoom tables, but for now tabling too much would be more detrimental than anything
edit: these are my overall thoughts about Day4 that I wrote on BPC forum:
Day4 was great. Not because I won a lot of money, in fact it was my worst day ever at NL10 since I started poker. I am just happy I was able to play for 10 hours without tilting or getting sad about the downswing. I also feel like it will greatly help me in the long run, because losing is more stimulating towards improving, and I am putting a great deal of effort into studying when I’m not playing. I feel like poker will be great towards my lifelong goal of becoming the best version of myself, and I am really glad I chose this path |

haha i guess everyone here has felt this before. i dont exactly have life figured out but what i did find is that doing this turns into a chase for a fleeting feeling. if you manage to 'get there' you have this amazing feeling of winning and being good but it doesnt last long at all, and the chase resumes. in the beginning the chase itself is pretty good fun because there's a lot of novelty and rapid rate of improvement, but over the years the chase becomes increasingly unbearable and soul-crushing. enjoy the early years but don't expect lasting happiness to come out of this |

I'm already happy, I don't need poker to become happier, but just to stay the way I am now.
What I am looking for is challenge and improvement. When it will be over with poker in a few years I will move to something else like I always did. |

not necessarily.. plenty of research out there suggests you can get longterm lasting happiness from things like good relationships, helping others / positive societal contribution, etc etc.
might be hard to see if you're a young misfit gaming nerd (which sums up the typical background here), but there are likely to be more things that make life seem worthwhile than improving your own skill at games, beating others at games, and being recognised for your skills at games. there's also a good chance those other things create more longterm lasting happiness as well. |

Right, and in case I lose I can just do everything from scratch again but faster with all the gained knowledge.
You sir are a genius.

edit: thinking about it, wouldn't casinos sue me if I win too much money? |

Yeah, all-in EV. That shows how much you should have won based on your equity when going all-in. E.g. 100$ pot and you go all-in PF with AK vs underpair. Your expected winnings is ~45$. |

Thanks
I see your point and I agree on the visibility aspect, yet having things in a single thread looks way better to have a good report from start to finish, and I also don't think it's nice either for the other users to see a new blog post every 3 days with updates and graphs. |

If you make 2 blogposts one after another, the older one will disappear. So its OK, imo, to make a new post each 3-4 days/1 week. We need some activity anyways |
