I'm 90% decided to go live in Thailand and play poker from there. Seems like a sweet paradise. I'll also most likely have a trip to Bangkok first in a couple weeks to check things out. Anyone is currently there and would like to meet?
I am also looking for other poker players to live there with. At the moment the plan is going alone but I love nightlife and chilling with friends so being there with another poker pro would be great fun.

There was another LP member who posted a blog or blogs on LP about his daily living in either Vietnam or Thailand. I don't remember his name, though. It was sometime within the last year. |

I was leaning towards Malta, however I had enough of italian culture and I'd rather go somewhere different with a nice weather, enjoy a good life at a cheap price and have new experiences. Hookers aren't exactly what I'm looking for. |

Danang in Vietnam is also extremely beautiful and has a low cost of living...like <800$ per month... There are some hotels 2-3 minutes walk from the beach which you can rent for 300-350$ per month with no leases... It's probably the only place I would recommend to live in VN though unless you like ultra busy city life |

I'm traveling to thailand in December to live for the winter. I'll be mostly doing yoga and meditation retreats. |

I think one advice I can give by talking to another LPer with similar experience is to do enough research. Things like purchasing life essentials/electronics, renting a place etc., you would love to find out before you get there. Not knowing the language is going to be one very tough aspect.
For my own experience, I remember the days I studied abroad in the States not knowing names of food, amongst other things, wasn't particularly fun at the beginning. Even now that I am back in China after 7 years, I have a lot of trouble getting around as well.. Luckily I know both languages, but for you going to Thailand and live in a city, it will be a whole different story. |

Never mess with the locals, never buy drugs, when going drinking take only what you can afford to loose, have many options to access your funds in case of emergency, get health insurance, always put a condom on, and foremost don't fall in love a bar girl.
You need to research thai coulture deeply, it is very different to what we are used to in the west. Example: you can get into deep trouble for putting your foot on a thai bank note, if you dropped it and just want to stop it from flying away. |
