Normally I'd be confident in Iran's self preservation but they are going through a very politically unstable phase, hopefully this won't get ugly, I suppose the silver lining is that same unstability would make very unlikely for Russia or China to side with Iran (besides posturing) and Pakistan is on the Saudi's side so the scenario that this war happens it seems unlikely to spill into a world conflict.

My problem with having really serious beliefs on either side is that both have really good arguments and it forces people into becoming extreme believers of said value systems. Lasting solutions are always somewhere in the middle. You get to realize that if one gets older and older. Everything is a fucking compromise if you want things done. It's not pretty or sophisticated but that's the awful truth.

Having strong party beliefs in the USA is pretty retarded, since they're both traditional right parties, the public is really not given any option on that, they re just handling very minor things differently but generally it doesn't even matter

So the whole 'centrist' picture is pretty naive, to say the least... you can't have a centrist when there is only one side of the specter. Thats why the presidential elections there are probably the best reality show in the world too, sad part is the joke is on all of us in the end

And honestly, even if someone like Sanders gets into the office by some miracle, I would be stupified if he actually manages to get any impactful leftist bill passed through anywhere. The USA is often compared to a corporation simply because the whole political system is heavily dependant on businesses, businesses have no real incentive to support leftist ideology.. while lobbyism is something legal in the USA, there will never be truly anything other than a right and a right party with different names. Obviously one of them would go the extra mile of banning abortion and prosecuting raped women that got pregnant to paint themselves as the 'true' right traditionalist party. Pretty sad actually

centrism has always been wrong in history, you cant be centrist on a moving train. Look at historical progress in politics and morals, radical/minority ideas have constantly come to the forefront and been adopted, once people realized that the centrist ideas were wrong/built on ideology, ect. And no, im not saying political and moral values perfectly progresses in a linear fashion. For centrism to be right today you would basically have to agree with Fukuyama, thinking we are at the end of history and this is as good as it gets.
