Authoritarianism can be more effective than democracy in many instances, usually in stuff that requires hard self sacrifice for the common good, like many existencial threats like pandemics, wars etc, however its drawbacks vastly overshadow its benefits.

Lol the funny thing is she tried to justify it by saying that she needed to take it to set an example for others so they wouldn't be afraid to take it. Like wtf, you illogical shit-for-brains. There's literally not enough vaccine to go around right now so why the fuck would it matter if there were some people afraid to take it? Just give it to the next person that is willing to take it! Convincing more people to take the vaccine isn't going to be a problem for at least another 100 million doses!

It's the only viable reason to justify it by and it does make sense. I'd assume pretty much everyone here avoids appealing to authority and reacts skeptically towards that thus you're viewing this from a completely different perspective than the average person.

It's still stupid to vaccinate her right NOW so she could be the monument of the vaccination movement or whatever since the most important people to get vaccinated atm are doctors.... it does make sense to vaccinate AOC later on for Phase 2 combined with a marketing campaign as it would be helpful.... regardless of what your political views are

Yeah there will come a time when there will be extra vaccine doses that people are too afraid to take but that's probably several months away.

side note: I got my vaccine yesterday, had some weird sensations for the first hour after the shot, my neck stiffened up and my head and neck felt flush. But that went away then just arm soreness persisted. Could have been anxiety.

I think that's a very easy // politically correct thing to say and I don't think you are stating any opinion that isn't commonly held by most people. I guess my contention is that generally Authoritarianism is underrated/underbought //over-maligned by the general public.

There is literally zero reason for authoritarianism to exist in our age and technological advancement. Its ONLY " benefit" is that decision are taken instantly and not time is lost in needless bureaucratic idiocy... Im not going to bother with the disadvantages as they should be self-explanatory to anyone with any common sense

Even in ultra-tight scenarios e.g.surprise invasion by enemy forces, the decisions could easily be taken by a group of elected people representing everyone else and it could be done quite easy. It's just that governments just suck at using new technologies.

Furthermore they can be taken in such a way where psychological biases can be avoided

Oh I'm aware, the DPRK has been playing the game for a while and they know what they are doing and the Kim dynasty has been smart, but Maduro isnt remotely as smart and isn't as experienced as them in regards of maintaining a dictatorship, this kind of shit makes the international community see him as a crazy dictator losing its grasp of reality which isn't good since Venezuela economy is on freefall and they aren't as self suficient as NK.

I remember when I was in Colombia there were this Venezuelan guy giving out free money cause it was worthless, haha. Aside from some basics don't really follow stuff about Venezuela though.
