Actually, the worst social engineering is one that conditions people to ask twitter intellectuals what they can do to reduce poverty or w/e it may be. He doesn't seem to have picked up on that.
The correct response to someone asking "what should I do?" is to tell them to think of something and do it. It's so easy to do something for anyone with relative privilege that you basically have to be a mental slave and propagandized to even ask that question, and obviously that person asking the question knows their own talents far more than a stranger does. He tells everyone to start a business, but people have different strengths. Some people are better at being a war correspondent, for example. That's an extremely high-risk job with high reward for society overall.

An independent war correspondent on twitter and substack. What paper are they going to write for these days?

Taleb's takes on Twitter lately have been quite inadequate in my opinion. Snowden shit on him and instead of owning it he launched his twitter gang to abuse Snowden, how fucking sad. He started criticizing what people wear, even though he himself hates 'suits' and when he got engaged on the topic he just said it's only related to suits not how you dress overall????

The guy has become the 'villain' of his books, what a joke.

I just saw Taleb repeatedly call Snowden a FRAUD without any evidence and thought that it was pretty suspect.

It all started after Taleb cyberbullied some woman and Snowden exposed him in this tweet -

and then Taleb couldn't handle it, said he was bullied himself by bitcoin maxis and then started calling him a fraud for no apparent reason lmao

Taleb also started swearing at the entire bitcoin community cause some of the bitcoin maxis do trash talk him mostly because he is pro blockchain but is disappointed in what bitcoin has become, which does make sense to me, but raging against an entire open source community because of a few members is ... quite... against everything he's written

There has to be a reason Taleb called Snowden a fraud no?

I couldn't read through all those tweets. It seemed like 90% of them addressed this person as "Fucking idiot." Ridiculous.

The bitcoiners are probably upset that Taleb's position is that BTC is not a currency and BTC is also not a hedge against inflation. Which I think by most definitions BTC is not quite a currency and may or may not be a hedge against inflation. I would put a yet behind both those statements though. However, BTC is a store of value. That could also change for the worse or the better. I am long BTC so I am bullish in these areas. I also do not know as much about other crypto or potential emerging crypto but don't think I am a BTC maxi. It makes more sense to me that BTC will be the hardest in general but that other crypto will be utilized for many potential areas.

I haven't read it yet but it would seem to be strong evidence for why Taleb called Snowden a fraud since he calls him a "phony hence traitor" in the title.

Allegedly, Snowden just scraped tweets with "fucking idiot" in them which he may very well have done.

I did indeed find that medium post from Taleb and stopped reading 15s in where he builds his argument that Snowden cannot be a fighter against oppression because he s based in Russia. Because it's complete bullshit and he knows it

Snowden blew the whistle before he had any relations with Russia. He's in Russia cause 'the freest country in the world' spied on everyone and got caught. So instead of glorifying him for holding them to higher values, just as any other hypocritical government they hunted him down. The same way Navalny was hunted down by Russia with all the FAILED attempts on his life. People that judge Snowden for being in Russia are pathetic. It makes perfect sense when you whistleblow on the world leader to go seek asylum in the only country in the world that won't ever extradite him even if that country is an authoritarian regime. It's not a matter of values at that point, it's a matter of survival. That's the one mistake Julian Assange made.

Taleb's works are inspiring and quite enlightening - too bad he lacks empathy and the ability to handle his emotions .. and criticism apparently.

Did you really try to take a swing at me thinking I'm a supporter of Democrats in the USA? You don't learn do you

Let me show how big of a difference there is between the two:

https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2020

want to take a second to address this because it's wrong at enough levels where it should be instructive to, if not you, someone

1) I didn't say you supported anybody, as I said
It IS a sarcastic dig, in the sense that I think you're a CNN propaganda slug and I've seen you specifically complain about DRUMPF and PUTIN being buddies, and I think you said KIM JONG UN too, but mum's the word (this is an expression meaning you're silent) when it comes to Biden
like a guy was literally just indicted for making up the Steele fraud and the entire investigation and pretense for first impeachment was bullshit
Biden is here directly and materially aiding China, Russia, and THE TALIBAN and your response and outrage is not proportionate -> it's not that you care, it's just TDS

2) If you believe Trump and Biden are nearly identical, explain why using your own words. Think of your idea first and explain what the fuck you're talking about in more than 1 line and why it's important

3) Don't just google the idea you suddenly had and post the first website "Look! A website! I'm right!" okay Loco?

now, to dissect what's wrong specifically with this site:

4) This analysis was made by a person.
What were their methods? Their biases?

We have analysed speeches, manifestos and, crucially, voting records in the compilation of this chart.

a) speeches - Nice idea. Means NOTHING compared to ACTIONS.
b) manifestos - great for finding the political compass of the unabomber. When have Biden or Trump or most of these people written a fucking manifesto?
c) voting records - nice for representatives, however, Trump doesn't have voting records, just vetoes, nor Yang and so on, Bloomberg, yet they write "crucially" here when it doesn't apply to executives or people who were never elected

What were the specific methods? what's the list of issues? the sources?

5) Imagine I give Alex 10 questions about authoritarianism and 10 about liberalism and conservatism.
He answers authoritarian on the first 5, libertarian on the latter 5, liberal on the first 5, and conservative on the latter 5.
I give Thomas the same. Libertarian on 5, authoritarian on 5, conservative on 5, liberal on 5.
Their score's the same eh? They're both dead centrist eh?
No difference right? On the picture? Despite answering exactly the opposite on all questions and disagreeing at every point? Indistinguishable.
You're like a fucking kindergartener with this.

6) WHAT WEIGHT WERE DIFFERENT ISSUES GIVEN?

Is retired Bloomberg talking about taxing sodas to stop the retarded citizens from getting fat, given equal weight to Trump's ME policy recognizing Jerusalem, destroying ISIS, abandoning Kurdish allies?

This leads us to

7) Do not make the mistake of assuming a SAMPLE SPACE is UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTED

What does this mean if you didn't take statistics 101?
You roll a fair die. It could come up 1,2,3,4,5,6, each with probability 1/6
You roll two fair dice. They could come up any number from 2-12.
Each possibility is a number. Are they all equally likely? No.

Similarly, look at these two data points on a sample space;

Here's a line that goes from 0 to 200. It represents a variable.
There are two points, one at 85 and one at 115.
Each one represents an IQ. On the left is Spitfiree's IQ and on the right is Baal's IQ.

According to this elegant chart I made, you both have very centrist IQs. "Let me show you how big of a difference there is between the two."

This picture is misleading. You are two standard deviations away from each other. 68% SIXTY-EIGHT PERCENT of the population lies between the two of you. You are over half of the population different in IQ.

This is what you're missing, the actual distribution of the population, which would have to be in the third dimension on this absurd picture:

8) Therefore, even if the picture is true, it wouldn't mean what you think it does
It would mean in the imaginary space of what people could possibly believe and do in Fantasy Land, the distance is blahblah. Not that Trump and Biden are necessarily close in some way in terms of the actual population.
Who the fuck is HAWKINS? A guy who never got 1% in a vote for ANYTHING? Who CARES?

Where's Hitler? Stalin? On this incredible political compass chart? Where would Hitler go? Not much space left, how about at the very top right? Not much difference between Hitler and Trump or Biden then right? Either you're huffpost and believe that or this image is fucked up, meaningless, and wrong

The person who made that has put no thought into the fact that there are borders and corners, in other words, limits. And why is the libertarian half so empty? Not enough erudite libertarians or this bullshit map doesn't reflect reality??

"Political compass" has always been bullshit and it was embarrassing to see posted here in such a crude manner like you're Twitter dunking.

Now I'm not going to conclude by splitting hairs as to how many Spitfiree dick lengths close or distant Trump and Biden are on some imaginary map. Just going to leave you with the thought that if you can't notice after 8 months how much the Biden (and Obama) and Trump administrations differ, you're an idiot

Behold the believer in IQ (Why am I not surprised, after all you believe a lot of non-sense)

Btw, before, when I was as dumb as you and thought IQ actually means anything I tested at above 91% on Mensa regulated test. Now that I know IQ doesn't mean shit it feels much better though.

Let me then just address your second point cause the rest of them are mainly non-sense except the part of what their methods are. If you're that interested you can reach out to them and find out.

All US politics are essentially the same - keep the lobby money flowing in, get big corps what they need, appoint the next ex-Goldman Sachs director to secretary of the treasury (gratz btw the current one's only relation with Goldman Sachs and the rest of the bunch are only receiving millions of dollars by them), keep telling people that social systems are bad and equal communism and then continue to take their rights away. See when I'm talking about Trump and Biden being 'the same' it's true because on a macro-level they are.

My main issue with Trump is that he is a hideous imbecile scammer that was so ridiculously incompetent that a lot of people got hurt because of him through many different scenarios and he managed to top that off with his management of the corona measures in the USA. And that is on a micro-level.

Not commenting on Biden means he's just following the same politics you've been leading for decades. It's not so much that I agree with him, but rather he hasn't gone and done something absolutely fucking moronic.

On another note I was wondering the past few weeks how many of the great anti-communism republicans took Biden's social welfare checks and then returned them or sent them to charity... after all any social measures are communism and they definitely don't want that so gotta do everything in their power to prevent it, no?

sure they're both presidents so they're essentially the same, on a macro level they're the same, no reason to think any further

rights? yeah they both hate rights, trump hates second amendment rights

"social systems" yeah they both hate social systems, oh fuck I guess you forgot that in this EXACT SAME POST YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BIDEN'S "SOCIAL WELFARE CHECKS" you fucking shit-for-brains assclown

today I learned pandemic response is micro level

what measures are you talking about?
are you talking about the operation warp speed vaccines that the whole world ordered?
or are you talking about the ventilators and navy ship and support given to NYC that cuomo ignored so he could kill tens of thousands of grandparents?
or are you talking about the commie eviction moratorium that people have taken advantage of to just not pay rent while they're still working, while landlords in the lurch have no way to evict and no relief of their own from their obligations to pay loans they have on properties, that biden extended too?

or did you never put 2 and 2 together to realize obesity is a comorbidity of covid, and what's the first country in the world you think of when you think of obesity?

yeah between canceling a US pipeline just to turn around and give a pipeline to Russia

wanting to work with China on climate change and giving them a nice Hong Kong and Taiwan in return. not to mention Afghanistan

oh that's a doozy. leave the airbase before evacuating US and allies, release 5,000 terrorists, give tens of billions of dollars worth of materiel to the Taliban, not to mention the country, get 13 soldiers blown up, blow up a family of 10 civilians to show everyone you're still the boss

the rising cost of gas, the rising crime and inflation

the inability TO SPEAK

nothing absolutely fucking moronic though

nope

instead of this ongoing effort to try to win the nobel prize in psychology for your ingenious combination of smartass and dumbass into one incredible phenomenon

why don't you take 10 minutes of your day and talk to actual republicans, or listen to republican politicians talk, besides the 20 second marjorie taylor greene clips you probably see on CNN

or get a different fucking hobby because being intentionally obtuse about the politics of a country you don't live in and aren't a citizen of (which would be a good idea if you did it with the goal of actually learning) is wasting what precious brainpower you have left

it's interesting how braindead tongue in cheek you are. "Biden's" glorious welfare checks. are you talking about the... $1400 third covid stimulus check? (after the $1200 and $600 checks from Trump)

are you talking about the PPP loans meant for small businesses started in 2020 that were coopted and sucked up mostly by already very solvent big businesses that didn't need the money?

federal spending since the pandemic averages $20,000 per person.

let me restate this in idiot terms for you so it doesn't go over your head. the government gave $3200 in direct stimulus relief per adult (I forget how they calculated families and children)
the government spent $20,000 per human. look at US, look at pandemic, look at spending. was the other $16,800 well spent? worth it?

do you know what debt is? that means your children, your grandchildren, and the children of the horde of illegal immigrants at the border, have to pay for this shit. so forgive me I don't see the ability to print and waste money as a successful application of democratic socialism you fucking university of venezuela dropout

you know extended unemployment benefits are causing a labor shortage because nobody wants to go back to cheap service jobs when they can cash government checks

you know that's the excuse the "big corps" as you mention before, love? 1. give government checks 2. people don't work 3. better import millions of people who work for peanuts and keep wages low just like the past 30 years

inflation is up with biden, the price of used cars, everything is up

You're like a child that sees everything in black and white. It's exhausting to have to explain very basic concepts. You should be old enough to be able to wield simple logic.

Obviously Bernie Sanders wouldn't fucking give out his property in a system that doesn't allow him to change shit EVEN if he was a Marx type socialist, which he is not. There are so many things wrong with that statement. I would have to spend a day to respond to all your stupidity and at this point I give up.
