I am not willing to die on a trans and Title IX hill for example but the negiotiation followed by the creep on seemingly 100+ issues is concerning. It's shock therapy on its own nation. If something is technically possible it is technically possilbe to will it into reality. Bombastic is not the right word. The neogitiation is high-sounding yet HAS meaning. It is calculated and clever.

Trump banning the woke stuff and "we have 573 different genders" I dont really care about.

I assumed Baal would care more about Trump bashing Mexico than about Ukraine...

That you personally don't care about words being banned is irrelevant (although it says a lot about the weakness of your character and morals). The words that have been banned have actual meaning and technical usage in the scientific world, not just with the ultra woke people. In some way it's like if you said you didn't care about slavery if it came back because it would only affect people of color... No one needs to know that you only care about things that directly impact you and your ability to build capital, it doesn't change the fact that in a society we need to be able to describe reality freely. Banning words is something fascists do. The fact that the right wing has always been trumpeting free speech above all and saying "I might not agree with you but I will fight to the death for your right to say it" and now when it's time to prove it many are content to ignore the issue. Like everyone knew about all of those free speech grifters like Musk and Peterson, it was never about the principle of free speech, it was about money and owning the libs. Now that they get to do it with the government's help they have no reason to oppose its authoritarianism.

But if Baal has any principles at all it is no doubt the first thing he would care about and call out.

fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccountLast edit: 22/02/2025 16:20

Freedom of speech is on the decline all over the world unfortunately.

The word extremism has become an Orwellian word as well.

It used to not have negative connotations on the far left.

These laws are going to be used to clamp down hard on environmentalists and criticism in general. The UK has already done that.

We are entering a worst case scenario world, the stuff of nightmares. Both neo fascism and a climate catastrophe.

If there are any 22nd century historians they will describe the 21st century as the great period of ultra cringe in their textbooks.

Recent freak show of appointees got me remembering how I argued against *gasp* Rex Tillerson on here eight years ago. Nothing matters now.

US deserves what we get to some degree, but I do feel especially bad for Ukrainians who are just trying to fight off a terrorist invasion. Best case scenario is Putin keeps what he took without penalty.

I never understood why people say this, that America deserves what it gets. It's mostly poor people that suffer, and most of the suffering caused by the government is in neither Ukraine nor America.

You probably don't know it but what is really being said here is that poor people deserve to die for no reason at all.

This negotiations for peace between Trump and Putin are a good thing. Pretty sure Ukraine desires peace more than anything here, even if it means taking the loss. Denuclearisation and ending sanctions are good too, If that happens
