Its uncontroversial that different parts of the Trump administration had Russian ties (Tillerson, Manafort mainly). Lying about conversations/meetings with Russians is what caused the Flynn and Sessions fiascoes. None of that amounted to an accusation of treason, but there's a disturbing possibility that some level of treason did indeed occur.
and yes the US govt in general spies on basically all parties to an utterly absurd degree, but that still doesn't give anyone license to just make shit up whenever they want.
