I am worried that they will dumb it down far too much too but I'm already in for the buy-in. It sucks to be at the mercy of a company like Blizzard (today) but I was the doofus who put the money down this damn early. Well, you reap what you sow or so they say.

But, beta starts Friday 9 PM Pacific I believe. If you pre-bought you can dl now. If you didn't you can dl Wednesday on PS5 or PC. I'm hoping PS5 couch co-op can play with PC nerds too.

I wasn't able to do couch co-op with my girlfriend last weekend on the PS5, my character never loaded in the game. The game has cross-play so I was able to play with her by being on the PC, but that required buying another copy of the game. It was alright, nothing amazing, but will probably play one of the new unlocked classes next weekend. I don't think the game has the potential to keep me interested for months on end, but it's a fun experience to play with a grill.

I've heard that its better than D3 but worse than D2... I mean D2 is considered one of the best games ever + nostalgia, of the criticism that I've heard the one that sounds awful is that minions are proportionally as strong as your level which sounds bad, its pretty cool to feel powerless in certain areas so you have to grind more and being a god when you move back down to lower lvls, how would that system work when there are big discrepancies in lvl between players?

D3 upon release was hard as hell and felt very fresh, aside from the RMAH fiasco. D2 is always great but there's nothing to do once you have a lot of good gear, there's very few games going on at all times and ladder resets aren't my thing. D4 right now is kinda boring, it feels like you're doing the same mind-numbing MMORPG quest all the time. It has more potential by introducing new world bosses, but despite that it feels like a more casual game than both D2 and D3. Not enough active skill slots (they wanted to accommodate console players), the skill tree isn't very complex, the ability to transform every rare into a legendary is odd. The hunt for items felt more trivial with things having less synergy than in other games, but it's early too judge without seeing the end-game items.

Mobs don't scale down to your level, but they scale up. So you can feel powerless for sure if you go to a much higher level area, but you don't get to steamroll everything from low level zones, they adapt to you.

the cross platform thing always ends up sucking because they have to simplify a lot for console I hope it doesnt end up sucking because of that.

I'm gonna wait for the release since they are gonna wipe the progress. I don't expect D4 to be made for console while forgetting PC. I was hoping it wasn't too casual but I mean I guess it's diablo in a modern era. Theres always PoE but I kinna overplayed it.

I'd love to have an opinion on this game but between login queues, errors, and disconnects I've barely played it. To be expected.

PoE on paper is great, but for some reason it doesnt excite me as much as Diablo

For the record, couch co-op is possible. My sister and brother-in-law played couch co-op and joined a party of my brother on PS5 and me on PC. There was some bugginess at times. It would drop people from the party for seemingly no reason but that happened maybe 2 or 3 times and was an easy fix.

We will see how this game ends up. For starters, it was definitely fun but will it keep me interested is the question.

You deleted the post but people can find time to do anything. I work 40 hours a week with a 20-30min commute and sleep probably about 10 hours / night. That's still 5 hours of time. I can play vidya and not fall off the guitar or lifting weights. Now, if I wanted a better social life I would have to devote a lot of that time to that which would be difficult if I want to keep everything afloat. If I wanted to go to an AA meeting and sit at a patio until midnight that is 4-5 hours so I probably get less sleep and not play Diablo IV that night. It's definitely a little differant than that one summer I tried to qualify for World Cyber Games and gamed for 18 hours and slept for 6. I suppose that was fun or at the least I was in a flow state all day. I look at the opportunity cost of that summer but there wasn't really anything to do in my podunk town especially given the situation.

Besides being more intricate and fun Warcraft III is not so different from a slot machine. I could have been drinking with hot girls. There were definitley girls that wanted to fuck I was just too much of a virgin to really take advantage of that situation.

Doing Mephisto runs instead of going out at college is more of a disaster. There was always something going down at uni and the drunks girls were more forward.

No one needs a life story. I think my point is that addicts will do anything to do their drug of choice. For an anxious kid kind of lost in the world a video game flow state is the height of being. Opportunity cost should be considered.

I think I've told this story before but I was playing missionred.com like the nerdiest thing you could do and this drunk girl was flirting with me, playing with my hair, and demanding that I go out with her and I was just like "no, I gotta get the high score tonight." Maybe I don't find poker and end up as a chemical engineer or a lawyer or something stupid like that. Who the fuck knows! Who knows if I end up as one of the wretched in every runout of my life?

I work 60-80 hours a week the last 3 months and still waste lots of time somehow.

I don't really know how to review D4. I don't even play it that often. I am lvl 31 on Act 4. The storyline is decent so far. I am a Were-Bear. It gets tiresome to just click buttons and clear mobs. Even if there are good item drops. I would at least like to beat the game on Normal difficulty and mess around with some of the other options the game has to offer. We'll see how that goes.

Level 31 one month after release? Real dad energy over there. Meanwhile I have two level 100 characters and beat Uber Lilith today. I'm recovering from surgery though and can't wait to be able to resume physical activities, really tired of this game and lost what little respect I had for the devs behind it.

Until a Shako is found, there is more work to be done.
