The Sardegnians are more or less a community of farmers and shepherds and they have one of the best diets on the planet.
I don't think I've ever eaten as healthy as I did in Costa Rica. It's no surprise the humble people of Nicoya, Costa Rica are among the healthiest on the planet. Gallo Pinto was a major staple (simple rice and beans), fruit picked from the source, even the tourist restaurants would serve a small (4oz) portion of fresh caught seafood and local tubers and vegetables.
When I am vegan I just take a vitamin b12 supplement and my numbers are perfect. This is if I am vegan for like 6 months. Obviously, I can't go vegan for 2 weeks and see SUBSTANTIAL changes. If I am on standard american diet/southern diet I am overweight and the numbers get bad. It's as simple as that. Meat does nothing for me except offer me pleasure. Same with dairy. In fact I would wager a lot of money that all of my health markers would improve over a 6 month time span if all I ate was potatoes. |
