there wasnt much of a detail to the stake, i thought i can pay him half every week and keep the other half in case he loses next week. Thats where the misconmuccation comes from. I never said he gets paid in full like everyone here assumes i pay in full every week. The details of the stake was iffy |

Does that change anything? The details were not clear. Obvious if I said I paid him in full I owe but I never mention he gets paid in full everyweek |

i really like how doomer stated it, ive been backed a lot, he truly says how i feel about it, i truly think john isn't trying to hurt the guy, to john $230 is like $6.25.
i learned a ton in this thread too, been through a similar spot where i had funds withehld 560 in rakeback and never said anything............ didn't see a reason to blow up someone over 560 when he taught me so much which has turned me a ton of profit...
i never would but it really hurt my life for a minute |

Hmm. I could see it both ways depending. I have a friend that one time responded to a group chat with a few players in which they frequently sold action to each other. One day during the chat. Someone asked to sell action for something and a few of them responded and accepted. While i guess having another conversation at the same time. This was a while ago and i only heard the details from someone else. And based on the things my friend had said in the chat. The person asking had taken it as he agreed to buy the action also. Meanwhile my friend apparently wasnt paying attention really and agreed to something, but didn't realize the part of the action sold for that instance. In any case we had quite a few people arbitrate it. And it was ruled that my friend indeed owed the money. The reasoning was that 1)he would have been paid if the other guy had won 2)he altered the other persons expectations while not intentionally, into taking a spot he might not have otherwise. Even if the wording might otherwise not be well thought out. What expectations are set matter.
The story isn't exactly analogous. But it does lead to the question what exactly was said? And how does that prep the expectations of both parties. Can you guys just post what was said in regards to that? |

I think once you paid him out after the first week, then it's implied on the side that he'll be receiving the whole amount, unless you specified before hand that you'll be keeping some of the $ towards the bankroll in cases he loses since it isnt standard procedure to do so. If this wasn't discussed, then imo he deserves half of the first week. Sucks for the backer, similar situation happened to me 6 years ago with a friend. I was a little bitter at first w/ my friend, but ended just being annoyed at myself for the situation.

My word doesn't mean much here, but I have had a small bit of experience with staking years ago.
So Jlost just assumes his horse is going to know all the details about the stake without actually telling his horse all the details? Seems either really scummy or just major incompetence. Also wording things like "We get paid weekly" and then later in this thread saying "I said we get paid weekly, but I didn't say that I pay YOU weekly" is majorly scummy. Or again, massive incompetence. |

Was thinking the same as I was reading. If you say to someone you get paid weekly, why would the horse assume it would be anything other than what he's owed unless it is specified otherwise.
Also, you state multiple times you rushed into it, you messaged me in July in regards to a similar staking arrangement so it's not like this just came together overnight.. |

It was rush, after thinking about it, u guys are right. I left out key details cause the stake was rush. I’ll pay what is owe and move on. If it’s wasn’t rush I would never paid in full every week. The deal was agreed in 2 minutes without proper detail. I’ll bite the bullet and learn for next time. It’s not standard to pay full everyweek |

Doomer literally Oddeye posted the exact detail in the chat. There was no concrete detail. Just 50-50 everything but I made a huge mistake and not clearly stating my thought. Lesson learn to state everything. |

It was massive incompetence, first staking deal in years. I would never stake anyone on PokerStars or any regular site but the app had a lot of fish and a nl25 winner can win at nl100 or 200. |

Paying out every week isn’t standard too but wanted to show him it was not a scam. I don’t even know what standard is. If we go by standard he gets paid in a month so.... |

What I wrote isn't bad or good, it is laughing at something that is genuinely funny. This goes past 'grammar police'. The combination of you typoing as well as horrendously misspelling that word is REALLY funny. Seriously, look at it: misconmuccation --> miscommunication. I am sure someone else here appreciated my pointing it out.
You might get less "bad comments" if you stopped acting the same exact way as you did 10+ years ago. |

Imagine if your landlord said rent is due on the first of the money, you pay half, and he goes "where's the other half?" and you said "you didn't say ALL the rent"
I would consider that distinction of "i didnt say pay out full" after the deal has already started as unethical.
Look, you're not a scammer or scum or unethical, you're handling this well now, and I know it's shitty, but details matter, and these are not small details, this is how the deal was structured. |
